Project 6: Control vs. Chaos
This was my favorite project of intro to art, partly because I liked how it turned out, but also because my daughter did one with me and it provided good "mommy-daughter time."

My youngest daughter went through a time of "adult relaxing coloring" so I made this poster for a Christmas present. It took her a year to actually color but now it hangs proudly on her wall.

Macro Texture Assignment. In my class, several people thought that I took this with the black and white feature on my camera, or that I edited in black and white. I didn't. Both of these were taken with my phone, up close and personal, without any filtering or editing. The first one was a tree close to the cabin remains, and the second one was the inside of our metal storage container, after the fire.

I envisioned this triptych in this style for years before it became a reality. This was inspired by an assignment I did in my high school art 3 class.

Conceptual Art Assignment: I chose to do antique vs. modern. We have everything we need in the palm of our hands, nowadays, while 100 years ago much more energy went into daily activities. This was one of my favorite assignments.

The Following Black and White abstracts were for an assignment on positive and negative space. I did the assignment backwards, actually; the nature was supposed to be the white (but positive) space.

I drew this specifically as a gift for one of my dearest friends. I did it with all white soft pastel, but then decided to color the Earth.

My Grammie had an elaborate serving set, which had been a wedding gift to her parents in 1906. All of us grandchildren received a part of the minor pieces. This is the top of the mustard container.

Candles as iconography have meant divine presence, or the passing of time. On the day of this assignment, I let the candle fliker for a couple of hours. It gave me a nostalgic feeling.
