Several years ago I had a crazy idea to draw the child of someone famous with the aspiration of sending it to them as a gift.  All their friends would see it, request my information, and pay me thousands to draw their families as well.  However, I never could find a "fan mail" address to mail it to either Katie Holmes or Tom Cruise, and now that they are divorced it doesn't seem likely either of them would appreciate it. It's one of my favorite pieces but it sits in my closet. Well, if anything, it makes for a good story.

When my youngest was learning to walk, she had this habit of putting her shoes on her hands.  Maybe she thought it helped her balance, who knows, but one day after a bath, I snapped the picture.  Several years later I drew it.  It's one of my favorite memories of my now-teenager.

One year my place of employment wished to donate to a charity.  They asked if I would volunteer my time and grant a "lottery winner" a portrait.  I agreed and we raised almost $400.  This was truly a proud moment for me.

My first commissioned project was the grandparents of a friend of mine. She gave it to them as a gift for their wedding anniversary.

Several years ago, I saw a picture of my loan agent"s daughter and thought she was such a lovely young lady. I gifted it, as a "thank you" for my home.

Every movie I had ever seen of Jesus portrayed him as serious and dull.  I don't think He was like that.  I think He was joyful, someone that everyone wanted to be around.  Bruce Marchiano, the actor for The Book of Matthew, in my opinion was the most realistic depiction of the...

We were an hour early to El's doctor appointment.  I knew if I woke her that would be it for nap time.  So, I let her sleep in the car while I enjoyed watching her.

From My Youth
A high school drawing 3 assignment.  We had to choose a sports figure to draw.  As I never cared for conventional sports, I chose an ice-skater. It was originally done with colored pencils, but a teacher asked to have it and only made me a black and white photograph of it.

Another high school drawing 4 assignment.  We chose any subject but had to use a pen and use hatching and cross hatching.

I was bored in class one day and so I drew this from a friend's magazine.  It took me less than hour to finish.

I think these next two pictures were my favorite of this photo shoot.  Not only for the picture, but for the editing I learned.  I feel these are professional.  It does help, though, that my daughter is so photogenic. :)
